The South African Football Association (Safa) on Friday confirmed Adidas as the new kit partner for the country’s national football teams.

The three-year deal replaces current kit partner Le Coq Sportif as that association comes to an end in December.

As Safa explained, Adidas was associated with Bafana Bafana back in 2010 during the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

Now as Bafana booked their ticket to the 2026 Fifa World Cup, the partnership will be renewed once more.

The Hugo Broos-led Bafana beat Rwanda 3-0 in the final round of Fifa World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday; it meant South Africa finished top of Group C to punch their ticket to the quadrennial showpiece.

South Africa can also be quite grateful to Nigeria, who beat Benin 4-0 in their final match to allow Bafana to leapfrog the West Africans into top spot.

It’s been 24 years since Bafana last qualified for the 2002 World Cup, as they were granted automatic entry to the 2010 edition as hosts.

“This partnership is more than a sponsorship – it’s a return to shared values of pride, resilience, and performance. Adidas has long been part of our football story, and together we’ll inspire South Africans everywhere to believe that they’ve got what it takes,” said Safa CEO Lydia Monyepao in a statement.

Monyepao also thanked Le Coq Sportif for its partnership with the national teams.

“Our relationship started with many challenges but inspired a lot of on-field success for all our national teams, specifically our senior teams, Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana. We want to thank Le Coq Sportif for the partnership and we wish them well in their future endeavours.”
