Kaizer Chiefs’ current squad valuation reveals that their top players, including Reeve Frosler, Spiwe Msimango, and Siphesihle Ndlovu, are valued at R18.59 million each, significantly lower than Mamelodi Sundowns’ top-15, as the club aims to bolster its roster with more top talent. With Kaizer Chiefs promising to sign more top players in the coming months, it’s surprising to see which players in the current squad have the highest value.
According to transfermarkt.co.za, the highest value players in the squad are defenders Reeve Frosler, Spiwe Msimango and midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu. Each player is valued at approximately R18.59 million.
For comparison, that trio wouldn’t crack the top-15 most valuable players in the current Mamelodi Sundowns squad. The most valuable player in the Sundowns squad is Lucas Ribeiro at R51.54 million.
In fact, the total squad value of Chiefs is around R303 million. That’s less than half of that of Sundowns’ whose squad worth stands at a whopping R744 million.
Meanwhile, the pair of forwards Ashley du Preez and defender Thabiso Monyane are tied as the fourth most valuable players in the Chiefs squad with a price tag of R17.55 million.
The 21-year-old midfielder Mduduzi Shabalala is the youngest player in the top-10 most valuable players with a worth of R14.46 million.
Defenders Bradley Cross and Rishwin Dortley are worth the same at R13.42 million.
Centre-back Inacio Miguel and left winger Pule Mmodi complete the top-10 with values of R12.38 million each. Mmodi is also the oldest player in the Chiefs top-10 at 32.
On Tuesday, club marketing director Jessica Motaung said the club would still sign more top players soon.
Since the end of last season, Chiefs have already signed Ethan Chislett, Thabiso Monyane, Flavio Silva, Paseka Mako, Nkanyiso Shinga and Siphesihle Ndlovu.
Chiefs will not be involved in the opening weekend of local football action in the MTN8, but they will still have their work cut out from the outset in their new Betway Premiership campaign.
With Chiefs having finished outside the top eight in the league the last two seasons, there are increased expectations that the Soweto Giants will produce a much better showing.
