Kaizer Chiefs may have played down the dissension goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari showed immediately after the Carling Knockout match against Stellenbosch FC over the weekend, but will the player face further disciplinary measures for his actions?

This is the question that comes to mind as Chiefs will have a break from active competition during the international break.

While losing the cup game on penalties would have been frustrating enough, it also came with added controversy.

Before the looming shootout, Chiefs goalkeeper Ntwari refused to be substituted for Bruce Bvuma.

Internal Strife at Chiefs: Assistant Coach Cedric Kaze Addresses Substitution Controversy

It beggars belief that a player can simply refuse management’s instruction to be subbed, and for me it points to another example of things not being right behind the scenes.

It meant after the exit, Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze not only had to attempt to explain the defeat but why his gloveman would not listen to the call to be substituted.

He didn’t really. He said his decision, along with fellow assistant Khalil Ben Youssef, to pull Ntwari was simply ignored, but that: “It was coming from a good intention. Maybe the way wasn't as good as it should be, but it's something that we will address internally.”

It seems then that Chiefs will most certainly give Ntwari a dressing down, but it’s unlikely the public will be privy to what goes behind closed doors at Naturena.

Fortunately, Chiefs now have some time to sort out their affairs and it will come like manna from the heavens that their next fixture is only on October 18 against Simba in their Confed Cup first leg match in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
