Padel4Good, in partnership with the Racket + Ball Club, returns on May 9 for its third event of the year, following a successful Elite Men’s tournament last month.
This edition will spotlight women players rated between 2 and 5 on the Playtomic app, and entries open today at R850 per player for the event, which will take place at the Bree Street venue in Cape Town.
A total of 32 players (16 teams) will compete in a round-robin format, with the leading teams advancing to knockout rounds.
Since launching in 2023, Padel4Good has evolved into a growing sporting brand and charity, using padel to support communities in need across the Western Cape.
All proceeds and sponsorships are directed to homes and NGOs assisting women and children at risk, with contributions increasing from R5,000 per event in its early stages to as much as R15,000 per tournament today.
The initiative also provides a platform for players of all levels — from newcomers to elite competitors — while raising awareness around community upliftment.
Proceeds from the upcoming event will benefit the OBS Pasta Kitchen, a volunteer-driven organisation founded in 2017 to support the homeless in Observatory and foster community connection.
Last month marked a milestone for Padel4Good as it “went international”, with Spanish brothers Niko Velasco and Javier Velasco claiming the Elite Men’s title.
Now based in Cape Town, the brothers—born in Spain to a Spanish father and Japanese-South African mother—have become part of the country’s emerging padel scene.
Meanwhile, the Ladies Daytona R50,000 tournament concluded this past weekend at the same venue, where Lea Sterley and her partner Teagan won the Advanced Division, while Caterina and Zoey took top honours in the Intermediate division.
Entries for the Padel4Good Women’s event open at 2pm today on the PlayTomic App and the link will also be made available on the Padel4Good Instagram account.
