Innovate Durban has extended the application deadline for its 2025 Start-Up Support Programme, which offers mentorship to young South African innovators focused on solving local economic challenges through technology and innovation.

The 12-month programme, starting in June 2025, will provide selected participants with training, mentorship, and practical support to help develop their ideas and progress them towards market readiness.

The new application deadline is May 23 2025.

Innovate Durban is seeking young South African innovators aged between 18 and 35, residing in KwaZulu-Natal, who are committed to addressing pressing economic challenges in their community through technology and innovation.

"This programme aims to support solutions that are still in the early or pre-prototype stages, providing critical assistance to help them evolve into viable enterprises," the statement read.

It further highlighted that addressing specific, locally relevant economic challenges through innovative solutions can stimulate employment, drive growth, and unlock inclusive development within communities.

Eligibility criteria and application details

  • South African citizens aged 18-35 years
  • Residents of KwaZulu-Natal
  • Innovators with early-stage or pre-prototype ideas
  • Projects that address local economic challenges
  • Female innovators and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Applicants must be able to fully commit to the programme’s schedule, including all training, assignments, and mentorship sessions
