After a successful launch in South Africa, Professor Eldrid Jordaan’s new book, The Silicon Empire vs Social Impact, is heading to the United States and Europe.

The book launches in South Africa were hosted by the University of Johannesburg Business School, the University of the Western Cape, RLabs in Mitchell’s Plain, and Fast Company South Africa at the V&A Waterfront.

Jordaan is the founder of GovChat and a Professor of Practice at the Johannesburg Business School. He is known for his work promoting digital justice and responsible technology.

"The United States leg of the tour begins at two of the world’s leading institutions shaping the future of digital governance and artificial intelligence".

Jordaan will join Donnie Beamer Jr, Senior Technology Advisor to the City of Atlanta, at Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business for a fireside conversation on digital governance, civic innovation, and Africa’s emerging role in technology.

After the event at Georgia Tech, he will head to Washington, DC, to deliver a keynote speech at the Center for AI and Digital Policy, held at the Open Gov Hub. His talk, titled “The Silicon Empire vs Social Impact: The David & Goliath Battle,” will focus on digital sovereignty, the challenges smaller innovators face against big tech companies, and Africa’s potential to create fair and inclusive digital systems.

“From Belhar to the world, this journey is about more than a book tour. It represents purpose, resilience, and the courage to challenge global technology monopolies in pursuit of social impact,” Jordaan said.

Following his visits in the United States, Jordaan will continue the tour in Europe, with stops in London and Brussels.
