Apple has been forced to delay the upgrade of its Artificial Intelligence (AI), Siri and this may mean that the company will have to postpone the launch of its rumoured smart display device.
Bloomberg tech experts say that Apple may have to postpone the smart display device because it partially relies on the delayed Siri capabilities.
Rumours have been circulating for several months suggesting that Apple plans to introduce a smart home hub featuring a display, with an anticipated release date in the first half of the year
Apple hopes to get some market share from its competitors as both Amazon and Google have similar devices and these devices have been on the market for a number of years.
The device will be the first Apple smart home hub and will be supported by Apple Intelligence.
The device is also rumoured to run on tvOS and will support Apple apps like Calendar, and Notes, and will be compatible with Apple’s Messages app.
The tech juggernaut did admit last week that upgrades to Siri are taking longer than it expected but noted that it would be released in the “coming year”.
Apple hinted that upgrades to its AI may be featured in its iOS 18 feature as originally promised.
The current iteration of Apple's Intelligence technology lacks robust smart home capabilities, making it unlikely that the company would release a smart display integrated with Siri AI at this time.
In January the company was lambasted after it pushed out a software update that disabled news headlines.
The summaries created by Siri were also criticised as they had several inaccuracies.
