Though it has under 10% of the global market share compared to Apple’s 25%, the Oppo Find X9 Pro released on Tuesday actually has a better camera than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

It’s quite something for the company to already boast such high quality after Apple impressed with its latest release just last month with substantial upgrades in the camera.

In fact, it’s something of a misnomer that iPhones automatically have the best camera - and I’m often left chuckling to myself at family gatherings when an aunty shouts “iPhone, iPhone” when it’s photo time.

However, with the 17 Pro Max, Apple thought they may have held the title of best camera for more than just a few weeks.

Oppo Find X9 Pro: Superior Zoom Capabilities with 200MP Hasselblad Sensor

In fact, the X9 Pro also offers a zoom lens which can be bought separately to further enhance the zoom capability of the phone.

MaxTech on Tuesday released a detailed comparison between the 17 Pro Max and Oppo’s Find X9 and Find X9 Pro.

The Find X9 comes with a triple 50MP camera on the back, while the X9 Pro sports a massive 50MP sensor. For reference, the 17 Pro Max has a 48MP sensor.

The 200MP Hasselblad sensor with its 3x telephoto lens on both Oppo phones, however, is what really separates it from the competition with its incredible detail on maximum zoom.

It gets really detailed about how this all affects the zoom capabilities of the camera, but in layman’s terms, it means: more detail in zoomed-in pics that’s better than the iPhone.

Of course, whether these Oppo models will be available in South Africa any time soon remains to be seen. But if you can get your hands on one, you will definitely have the best smartphone camera on the market.
