The DJI Neo 2 promises to revolutionise the entry-level drone segment of the market with its incredible integration of gesture control.
The gesture controls are so intuitive that you can actually purchase the drone with a controller.
With front-facing displays to indicate which mode you’re in, you can see all the information you need to control the airborne 4K camera assistant.
Once you’ve selected the mode, you can then control the drone simply with hand gestures. Much like Luke Skywalker moved objects with his mind and using his hand to control the direction, this latest offering from DJI works in much the same manner.
Wave your hand to either side and the drone will move in that direction; the same goes for up or down motions.
To move the drone further away, you start with your palms together facing the drone and then move them apart sideways. To move the drone closer, you simply perform the opposite motion.
To hold the drone in place, turn your open palm into a fist.
Then to land the drone, just hold out your hand with your palm facing upwards. The Neo 2 will then take a few seconds and land right in the palm of your hand.
For any kind of aerial filming enthusiast, and any beginner drone pilots, this tiny device weighs in at 151 grams on its own, and 160 grams with the digital receiver, which expands the flight distance.
Without any extra accessories, the drone can be purchased for R4,699 from the iStore. Of course, the other packages offer better value, at a price, like extra batteries. However, if you’re looking to get into the drone game, this is an incredible purchase and is far superior to the original Neo that costs R3,299.
