When you’re in a bind to find an image to help illustrate your point in a presentation or a social media post, the easiest option these days is to turn to AI. But which AI app does it best?
Firstly, it’s important to note that Apple Intelligence is absolutely terrible when it comes to creating images in Image Playground.
It means that Mac doesn’t even have a player in the game.
Ultimately, it comes down to ChatGPT and Google Gemini as the two best. Note: these comparisons are between the free versions which most people use.
Overall, Gemini is streets ahead of ChatGPT.
Not only is Gemini faster in creating images from prompts, it generally does it with far more realism.
Gemini mostly uses tools like Nano Banana when it comes to creating images that appeal to most creators.
In comparison, ChatGPT seems to be far behind in speed and offers limited ability with the free version.
Gemini can at times struggle with accuracy, and when you refine your prompt it often gives you the exact same creation. It then means it’s often better to start a new request than continue with the current one, as modifications are difficult for the app to handle.
In this regard, ChatGPT is better as it’s able to adjust results much more easily and it seems like it is able to understand human speech or instructions far more competently.
As 2026 has dawned, both Google Gemini and ChatGPT are set to expand their capabilities to create much more convincing images in the future.
For now though, Google Gemini is a far more useful app to use for image creation.
