"Biri Marung" hitmaker, Tebogo Mashego, has returned to South Africa after being stranded in Nigeria.
According to reports, the 23-year-old Amapiano musician was stuck in Nigeria on Friday, September 19, after missing his flight with Ethiopian Airlines.
A video of a tearful Mashego has been trending on social media, where he expressed his frustration and disappointment over missing his flight.
He also took to social media over the weekend to call out those who encouraged him to travel to Nigeria for a singing engagement.
In a series of emotional videos, a visibly distressed Tebogo expressed regret about his decision to go to Nigeria.
He accused his team of mistreatment and claimed that many people owed him money for performances he had already completed.
In one video, Mashego appealed for donations to cover the cost of a flight ticket, revealing that his team had abandoned him and refused to pay him.
“Life is difficult. I told them that I didn't want to go to Nigeria. Please help me return home,” he pleaded.
Fortunately, his call for assistance did not go unheard.
It has been reported that popular artist and good Samaritan, DJ Karri, purchased a return ticket for the Pretoria hitmaker, who was welcomed upon his arrival at OR Tambo International Airport.
Mashego landed back in South Africa on Sunday, September 21.
He later took to social media to thank those who supported him during this challenging time.
“I’m back. To my fans who have been fighting for me, I love you. Your prayers brought me back home," he said.
Mashego also hit out at DJ Karri for bringing cameras to welcome him at the airport, saying there was no need for the paparazzi.
"What DJ Karri did by bringing cameras to the airport is not right. He was using such a serious matter to promote his reality shows," he said.
