Love stories have a way of reminding us why we believe in happily ever afters, and Selena Gomez’s engagement to music producer Benny Blanco (real name Benjamin Joseph Levin) is exactly that.

This past weekend, the Rare Beauty founder swapped her Hollywood hustle for the warm beaches of Cabo San Lucas, where she celebrated her bachelorette party with her closest girlfriends.

The trip, filled with sunshine, laughter, and a few playful nods to her fiancé, was as much a celebration of friendship as it was of love.

A bride-to-be in paradise

Gomez, 33, shared dreamy photos and videos from the trip on Instagram, her joy practically radiating through the screen.

She looked every bit the glowing bride-to-be in a pearl halter dress and veil, reading “bride to be”, later swapping into a chic white bikini for yacht celebrations with longtime friends Racquelle Stevens, Ashley Cook and Courtney Lopez.T

Their villa was transformed into a bridal haven complete with heart-shaped balloons, feather-trimmed pyjamas, and glittery silver letters spelling out “Mrs Levin”, a sweet nod to her future husband.

The group’s days were filled with dancing, giggling over candlelit dinners, and even a cheeky singalong to Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream, a track Blanco famously co-wrote and produced.

In one video, Gomez’s friends waved cutouts of his face while laughing in unison, capturing the blend of humour and heart that makes modern love stories so relatable.

While Gomez soaked up Cabo sunshine, Blanco, 37, took Las Vegas by storm.

According to "PageSix", Blanco and his friends stayed at the $25 000-a-night (around R480k) Chairman Villa at Resorts World, with the producer sharing snaps of his bachelor festivities on Instagram.

Though worlds apart, their weekends reflected a similar spirit, celebrating love in the company of those who know them best.

Experts say this balance, carving out space for joy and individuality while moving toward a shared future, is one of the strongest predictors of lasting marriages.

The couple’s journey has been a whirlwind of laughter, music, and authenticity. They announced their engagement in December 2024, after more than a year of dating that followed their initial connection in 2023.

Blanco later revealed he designed the ring with Selena’s input, choosing a marquise diamond as a playful nod to her hit song Good for You.

In a February interview with "Interview Magazine", he admitted he would often drop hints during their time together: “I’d be like, ‘Yeah, but if I ever made one, would you want it like this?’”

The result? A ring and a proposal that felt deeply personal.

Interestingly, despite the sparkle of the engagement, the pair is in no rush to plan a wedding. “We’re both working on so many things that we haven’t even had time to get into it,” Gomez explained on the "Therapuss" podcast in July.

Blanco echoed this sentiment in a "Rolling Stone" interview, saying, “We’re still not over this moment. Every day feels like a new celebration.

Gomez shared a series of radiant photos and videos from her sun-soaked getaway on Instagram, each image bursting with joy and friendship.

Adding to the fairytale, Gomez also had reason to celebrate her best friend Taylor Swift’s engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce.

Sharing Swift’s Instagram post with a heart emoji and the words “When bestie gets engaged,” Selena reminded fans that love stories often intertwine, strengthening bonds of friendship along the way.

In fact, Swift once tweeted in 2009: “Real love still happens sometimes. It’s not just something we make up when we’re nine. I have to believe that. You do too.”

Sixteen years later, both women are living proof of those words.

As they inch closer to saying “I do”, their story resonates because it feels both magical and attainable. Love, after all, is in the little things: laughing with friends, cherishing private moments, and never being afraid to be playful even when wedding planning looms.

For fans, Gomez’s weekend away was more than a celebrity headline. It was a reminder that, beneath the glitz and Instagram-perfect moments, even global stars like her are simply celebrating love the way we all do: surrounded by laughter, friendship, and the promise of forever.
