It's expected to be gusty in Cape Town this weekend, which especially Gun Run competitors could find challenging, but as always the Mother City doesn't disappoint when it comes to all-round entertainment. Here are some of capetowntravel.com's suggestions to make it a weekend to remember.

The Cape Town International Film Market & Festival

The 2018 edition of the Cape Town International Film Market and Festival will take place at various venues across the iconic V&A Waterfront this weekend. The festival will welcome diverse and exciting attendees from all over the world.

Screenings are open to the public and will run from 10-19 October at various cinemas within the V&A Waterfront, including free family-friendly films at the Amphitheatre.

Educational and Open Day at Macassar Pottery

Come and join the educational and open day with fun, music, local cuisine and a bit of relaxation. This is the perfect event for tour guides, tour operators and Airbnb hosts, but anyone who is curious can come and experience the event.

A Feast of Flight – Charlize and the Chocolate Factory

A Feast of Flight’s second annual production presents “Charlize and the Chocolate Factory”, a pole dance spectacular that will bring to life Roald Dahl’s renowned novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with contemporary and entertaining twists as the story unfolds.

Charlize and the Chocolate Factory is set to be a showcase of pole acts and aerial artistry that engulfs the senses and awakens the imagination.

Waterfront Canal Challenge

Making waves to raise awareness of the increasing impact of pollution on our oceans and beaches, the Rotary Club of Waterfront is to partner with V&A Waterfront to launch this initiative during the Oceans Life Festival.

This family fun day event will see “waves of swimmers” take to the canal in the morning for the one-mile timed event.

The Gun Run

Join thousands of runners at the Outsurance 94.5KFM Gun Run, known as one of Cape Town’s most popular races catering to all fitness levels. The Gun Run features 21km, 10km, and 5km routes.

The 21km half-marathon takes runners along the scenic seafront from the Waterfront through Greenpoint, Sea Point, Bantry Bay and Clifton.

There’s also the excitement of the traditional firing of a battlefield gun to mark the end of the race, prize giving and a lucky draw open to all race participants.

On the other hand, capetownmagazine.com has its own eclectic suggestions to perhaps indulge in something you haven't tried before.
