They say dynamite comes in small packages and this rings true for Durban-born musician, Liyah London.

The export artist’s talent is so big that it has seen her get into spaces that many rising artists only dream of.

Over her career she has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Hollywood superstars Pitbull, Usher, 50 Cent and LL Cool J, among others.

Born at St. Augustine’s Hospital, London was destined for stardom from the outset.

Even during her mother's pregnancy, music would make her dance, a prelude to a lifelong passion for rhythm and melody.

Today, London is not only making waves in the pop and hip hop scenes but she is also open to exploring the rich sounds of her home country with local producers.

“I am totally open to trying new genres. I love the sounds that are coming out of South Africa, it’s amazing! I’d be so open to any South African producers ... I especially love the concerts Chris Brown recently did,” said London.

Growing up, London shared that all she was interested in was singing and dancing.

“I absolutely knew the only thing I was destined for was music.”

As a rising star, London’s trajectory has seen her sharing stages with some of the biggest names in the industry.

Not only has she performed alongside LL Cool J and journeyed through South Africa with Pitbull but her collaborations extend to notable artists like Akon, Busta Rhymes, Mims and J-Kwon.

“I’ve worked with some of the most incredible Grammy Award-winning producers. I’ve been very blessed to be able to work with these talented individuals,” she said.

Among her stand-out performances, two particularly resonate with her.

The first is the electrifying energy of Calle Ocho, a vibrant street festival in Miami where she performed for hundreds of thousands.

The second is a sentimental concert in her hometown alongside Pitbull, where she shared the moment with her grandmothers.

Although the music industry is filled with obstacles, London maintains a steadfast belief that passion can overcome any challenge.

“If you love what you do, then there’s no obstacle we can’t overcome,” she said.

As she treads her path, she's also exploring new territories, diving into children's animation as the creator and executive producer.

“I am currently working on a children’s animation that I am so proud of ... It’s such a special project for myself and my team ... I am hoping to have my animation finalised by the end of this year. A lot of exciting stuff in the pipeline.”

Looking ahead, London’s fans can anticipate a thrilling 2025, as she prepares to release new music.

Her chart-topping hit, “Raise Em High”, which secured its place in over 50 countries, stands as a testament to her growing talent.

“The record was incredible and the video was even better! I was so lucky to have worked with such a talented group of people. I recently did a rebranding and am currently in the process of releasing an album this year.”

To her South African supporters, she extended a heartfelt message: “I love you and thank you for all the support, but most importantly always follow your dreams, because dreams do come true.”

As she paves the way for the next chapter in her career, London stands as an inspiring figure, proof that dynamite can indeed come in small packages.
