While Tyla and Sydney Seethal bask in the limelight in the US, their older sister, Whitney Jasmin, is quietly making a difference as an audiologist, helping those with hearing difficulties.

“Giving people back their ability to hear so they can listen to my sister’s music,” tweeted Jasmin on X last week as the world commemorated World Audiologists Day.

Jasmin, 25, was born and raised in Johannesburg but now resides in Durban where she works as an audiologist.

In a "get ready with me" video shared on her TikTok page, she describes herself as someone who has always been athletic throughout primary and high school, but she also admitted to being a bookworm.

Growing up, she dreamed of becoming an astronomer and working for National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

After finishing high school at Edenglen High, she enrolled at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg to study for a Bachelor of Science. Later, she transferred to Audiology, which is now her chosen career path. She graduated in April.

“Growing up, I was a bookworm, but not in the sense of reading novels. I always liked educational books, science books, medical books, and all of that,” she explained.

In addition to her academic interests, Jasmin enjoys cooking, a passion that began at age 13.

She shared that the first meal her mother taught her to make was spaghetti bolognese. Tacos are her favourite dish, and she proudly claims to make “heavenly” tacos.

Beyond cooking, she enjoys watching crime documentaries, sci-fi movies, and limited series, as she finds it difficult to commit to longer ones.

Her surname differs from her siblings because she uses her mother’s maiden name.

Even though she keeps a low profile, Jasmin made a cameo in Tyla’s “Jump” music video, showing her support for her sister’s career.

When she’s not working, Jasmin loves being outdoors and enjoying nature.

She often goes on picnics and hikes, preferring outdoor festivals over clubs, which she finds just okay but not her favourite.

She shares that she is also a tea enthusiast with a cabinet full of various tea collections.
