There is a thin line between excitement for your friend and crossing boundaries.
On the last weekend of 2024, social media influencer Ayanda Thabethe announced to her close friends on Instagram that she is engaged to the father of her two children.
Everyone knows that anything you post on close friends must remain there. If it ever comes out, it means there was a snitch in your circle.
For Thabethe, the snitch told on herself when she rushed to X to announce that her friend had been engaged.
“My girl is engaged. I told her it’s gonna [going to] happen any moment from now- this was three days ago,” wrote Mateboho, who also attached screenshots of her private conversations with Thabethe, including the engagement post meant to remain on Instagram's close friends.
When she mentioned that her “prophetic gift was on another level”, it was evident that Mateboho wanted to make Thebethe’s engagement about herself and her alleged gift that forgot about her friend’s privacy.

However, while she trended on X (formerly Twitter), Thabethe had already unfollowed her for overstepping her boundaries.
While she deleted the post a little too late, X users called Mateboho out for being a weird friend.
“I'd get so mad if a close friend made a public announcement like this,” said @Refiloe_Reelo.
Some said she ruined her chances of getting a wedding invitation by being too forward.
“Imagine viewing Ayanda Thabethe’s close friends? I wouldn’t even comment or like, I’d sit there and enjoy the luxury,” said @Compaqllow.
On Monday, December 30, Thabethe officially announced her engagement and that she couldn’t wait to become Mrs Matsimbe.
“You are the perfect sunset where my quest for love has found its ending, and the spectacular sunrise where my most meaningful adventure begins. Thank you for the greatest gift of all, your heart and our sons.
“I am deeply honoured to be your first and only wife, the one chosen to share this lifetime of love with you. Eu te Amo Matsimbe 🤍#MrsMtoBe💍 27.12.24,” she wrote.
