Chevrolet's iconic modern day muscle car, the Camaro, returns to the big screen this week in the latest Transformers movie, but this time fans will also be able to buy something that (kind of) resembles the car.

The Camaro returns as the Autobot “Bumblebee” in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which opens around the world this Wednesday, including South Africa. The fifth-generation Camaro previously played Bumblebee in the 2007 film Transformers and in the 2009 film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Unfortunately, our country will not be getting the 2012 Transformers Special Edition Camaro seen here, we don't even have access to the regular Camaros.

The new Transformers Special Edition will be offered (in the USA) as a $3000 (R20 610) package on 3.6 V6 2LT and 6.2 V8 2SS coupes with Rally Yellow paint. Americans will pay the equivalent of just R214 300 for the V6 version.

Not only do customers get the popular RS appearance package, but this one also sports black rally stripes that stretch over the bonnet, roof and boot lid; a bespoke high-wing rear spoiler and 20-inch, black-painted wheels wrapped in high-performance rubber.

Did we mention the Autobot Shield logos on the centre caps and front quarter panels?

On the inside, the Transformers Camaro has a black leather interior accented with (you wouldn't have guessed) yellow stitching on the instrument panel, centre console, armrests and seats. Autobot Shield logos are embroidered on the front headrests, as well as the console lid.
