The auction, which is under way, will end on July 2 at 9pm. Among the hundreds of lots are Old Master investment art, headlined by a Pierneef oil landscape expected to fetch between R2 million and R3m, and works by artists such as Hugo Naudé, Maggie Laubser (sketch), Nita Spilhaus, Alice Tennant and Francois Krige.

Sixty items aof fine linen, including French and English tablecloths (some never used), as well as collectable silver, silverplate, jewellery, decorative objects, antique furniture and Persian rugs are also catalogued.

Viewing of the lots at Ashbey’s Galleries at 43 Church Street, in the CBD, is restricted to eight people at a time on Saturday June 27 from 10am to noon, and from Monday to Wednesday from 9.15am to 3pm.
