POPULAR radio and TV host Onkgopotse JJ Tabane has returned to host eNCA’s opinion show, “Power to Truth".

Power to Truth” aims to hold those in power accountable with hard-hitting questions and in-depth interviews on current events.

The show offers sharp insights and analysis of the main issues facing South Africa.

In June, the channel announced that the show will be off air for some time but did not give any reason for the halt in production.

At the time, viewers took to social media to speculate that Tabane may have been axed from the channel following his last episode, where he slammed the formation of the Government of National Unity (GNU).

He spoke of an anti-black posture of the DA, saying the GNU was bound to fail due to policy and ideological differences between the DA and some of its partners in the GNU, including the ANC.

However, the eNCA has recently announced the show’s return saying that it had been on a month production break with Tabane on his annual leave.

Upon his return to the show this week, Tabane cleared the air, saying: “It’s good to be back … in the past they use to say don’t believe everything you read in the newspaper, I think you shouldn’t believe everything you read on Twitter.

“For the last four years that I’ve been here, every time I take leave, people assume that I’ve been fired and maybe it’s because I do say fireable things, but I’m still here to continue season 4 of ‘Power to Truth’.”

He said his time out was dedicated to “pure rest”.

“I look forward to bringing more thought-provoking conversations that help shape the future of our country”, Tabane said.

∎ “Truth to Power” airs every Monday to Wednesday on eNCA (DStv Channel 403) at 8pm.
