Mzansi is warming up and that means it’s time for a delicious scoop of frozen goodness - ice cream.

In the heart of Cape Town’s Gardens’ suburb, a sweet sensation has emerged, captivating the taste buds and warming the hearts of locals.

Tadaa! isn’t just any ice cream shop. According to the founder, Lena Sönnichsen, who creates the ice cream herself: “It is where artisanal methods meet playful and creative flavours, all made fresh on-site using natural ingredients sourced as close to Cape Town as possible.”

Sönnichsen describes each scoop as a “love letter to Cape Town”, celebrating the city’s vibrant spirit and sophisticated flavours.

At the shop, you will find familiar favourites like vanilla, hazelnut, pistachio and chocolate made using only natural ingredients and forgoing colourings, flavourings and additives.

You will also find a blueberry sorbet swirled with mascarpone ice cream and pieces of meringue, and a Vietnamese coffee flavour with ribbons of sweetened condensed milk or marzipan pear with thick chunks of real marzipan.

If you are vegan, enjoy their fruit sorbets (classics like raspberry and granadilla, and creations like grapefruit and cinnamon).

Sönnichsen said: “I don’t know what I love more, ice cream or Cape Town. Bringing both together is a dream come true. I have loved ice cream my entire life and hope to create a place that celebrates the good things: childhood memories, shared connections, and the delight of a small indulgence. Ice cream is for everyone - a small moment that brings so much joy.”

Sinnfull

Sinnfull is a leading manufacturer of super-premium, handmade ice cream, and sorbet specialising in unique flavours. Their ice cream contains no artificial flavourings, additives, colourants, or preservatives.

The birth of Sinnfull dates back to when the founder and master alchemist, Britta Sinn helped in her parent’s Italian ice cream parlour during her school holidays.

Britta’s father was trained by a master Italian ice cream maker and as a teenager, this tradition was passed on to her.

Add a batch of her much-loved passion and in August 2002 the first emporium was opened in Camps Bay.

Today, Sinnfull continues a time- honoured tradition of making all-natural, super-premium ice cream.
