Durban - The owner of Beechwood Bed and Breakfast in Glenwood, Durban was found murdered in the early hours on Thursday.
The discovery of the owner’s body was made by workers when they arrived for an early shift for work on Shuter Road.
Shocked neighbours were outside the long-standing B&B in disbelief of what had happened.
Preliminary investigations revealed the owner, a woman in her 70s, was murdered and found tied up in one of the rooms by the worker. It is alleged the suspects got away with the owner’s car.
Neighbours said they heard loud screams of the workers, crying, when they made the discovery in the morning.
A worker told Sunday Tribune that as she entered the house, she looked for the owner and could not see her.
However, she was not alarmed, saying her car was also not in its normal parking spot, so she assumed the owner had an early engagement somewhere else.
Police services and forensics were on scene investigating the crime.
Inconsolable workers could be seen hugging each other while they tried to figure among themselves what had happened.
Police were still gathering statements and will be shared once finalised.
This is a developing story.
