Zinhle Jiyane, fondly known as DJ Zinhle, says her recognition as a trailblazer is a testament to the incredible journey she embarked upon, and the support from her fans and the music industry.
Jiyane was bestowed with the Trailblazer Award at the Basadi in Music Awards (BIMA) 2024 ceremony, which recognises individuals who have shattered glass ceilings, inspired others, and made significant contributions to the music industry.
In celebration of her 20 years in the music business, she held her first Zee Fest at the weekend, a festival that brought together well-known musical artists, further cementing her place in popular culture.
DJ Zinhle made her debut in 2004 and has since reached unprecedented heights, becoming one of the most influential female DJs in Africa.
In addition to her extraordinary musical abilities, she has proven her remarkable financial savvy by starting successful businesses like Hair Majesty and Era by DJ Zinhle.
Her establishment of the DJ school FUSE Academy, focussing on developing female talent, is a clear indication of her dedication to empowering the future generation.
