The family and friends of a Phoenix father are appealing to the public to help locate him after he did not return home yesterday (Wednesday).

Avishak Dhurgaduth, 40, was last seen leaving his home in Hammerwood Road in Woodview, at about 9am.

Vishal Singh, his close friend, said there had not been any contact with Dhurgaduth, a self-employed metal fabricator, since then.

“From what I have been told, he left home to go and fetch his employees from Parkgate at about 8am. He then dropped them off at his home and went back to Parkgate to his father’s house. He swapped vehicles and returned to his home.

“At about 8:45am, he left home again but did not inform anyone where he was going. His wife and other family members, including myself had called him throughout the day but the line would just go dead. We also tried calling and messaging him on Whatsapp, but there wasn't a response,” he said.

Singh said Dhurgaduth’s vehicle, a white Toyota hilux, was found parked at a dead-end in Umdloti Beach yesterday afternoon.

“His mother received a call from a neighbour at about 4pm, saying that his vehicle was seen parked in that area. When we arrived we saw the vehicle parked in reverse and one of the windows was slightly open. His wallet, cellphone and the vehicle key was inside.

“Together with various security companies, we searched the entire area, but couldn’t find any signs of him. We are now just praying for his safe return home. We are appealing to anyone that has information about his whereabouts to come forward,” he said.

Dhurgaduth, a father of two, was last seen dressed in blue jeans, a green t-shirt and a black hooded-jacket.

If anyone has information, call his family on 084 805 2170 or 074 275 1274, or the police.
