Local singer and songwriter Keanu Harker is kicking off his festive season with a one-night-only Christmas themed show.

“Christmas with Keanu & Friends” will be hosted on December 18, at Meridian Pinehurst High School in Durbanville.

Harker has prepared a star-studded line-up to share the stage on the day, including Craig Lucas, Don Vino Prins, Robin Pieters, Karin Kortje, Jarrad Ricketts and Berry Trytsman.

While choosing who to perform with at his shows is always tricky, Harker said he had no qualms about his selection this time around.

“I wanted to feature artists that I’ve worked with on other projects, but never featured on my shows before,” he said.

On the day, the Cape Town singer said he will be covering all the Christmas classics.

“This show was inspired by the virtual concerts I hosted for the past two years.

“I will be doing (my own) covers of all the Christmas favourites,” he said.

Harker was a finalist in “The Voice SA” season 3 and has performed for audiences on national and international stages.

For Christmas this year, Harker hopes to spend time with his family and unwind.

“This year I would love to spend Christmas by giving back to the community, and just being Keanu the husband, son, brother and friend,” he said.

Prins, a saxophonist, has worked closely with Harker over the years and said he cannot wait to share the stage with him again.

“Without giving away too much, Keanu and I will do an item in song and I will perform on my own as well,” he said.

“We don’t want people to forget the reason for the season and the message behind Christmas.

“It’s an exciting time. We want people to come and enjoy themselves and forget their tribulations,” he said.

“People can look forward to kicking off their shoes and coming to have a good time at the show,” he added.

The esteemed saxophonist said he feels like a proud father seeing Harker grow in his career.

“I’ve seen his growth and see it grow from where it started to where it is today,” he said.

“He’s managed to carve out a space for himself in the field and I am very proud of that.”

The show is presented by KL Entertainment and Sean D Productions.

Tickets for “Christmas with Keanu & Friends” are available from Webtickets, at R100 each.
