The multi-level Bedfordview home of forensic investigator and anti-corruption campaigner Paul O’Sullivan has been placed on the market.

The luxury property, sources reliably tell IOL, is listed for sale at R12.5 million. FNB’s automated valuation places the home at about R11.1 million, based on comparable sales in the area. The most recent sale price is not publicly available.

Pompa Reality Group, which is selling the residence, describes it as expansive, and a high-end property designed for both privacy and entertaining.

It is positioned in one of the eastern suburbs’ most sought-after enclaves, close to major business nodes and OR Tambo International Airport.

The property offers expansive views.

“The main bedroom is a sanctuary of elegance, complete with a spacious double walk-in closet, his-and-her basins, and an indulgent Roman bath with sweeping views. For added comfort and entertainment, the room is fitted with air conditioning, a private balcony, and a projector,” says the listing.

The ground floor provides extensive garage and parking facilities. On the first level, the house includes an air-conditioned office, a guest restroom, a linen closet and a guest suite with built-in cupboards, air conditioning and a projector.

The en suite bathroom includes a double shower and a freestanding bath. This level also houses a wine cellar and a glass elevator that services all floors.

The lounge has a fireplace and built-in entertainment system.

O’Sullivan’s house also has a focus on entertainment and open plan living on the second level.

The entertainment area includes a built-in braai, draught tap and prep basin, with stacking doors opening onto a walk-in swimming pool and decked poolside area “perfect for soaking in sunsets and panoramic views,” says the listing.

The lounge includes a fireplace and surround-sound system, while the dining room opens onto wide vistas. The level also features a wood-finished kitchen with integrated appliances, sleek countertops and a prep sink.

A jacuzzi and outdoor shower complete the space.

The top level is dedicated to the private bedroom wing, designed to offer separation and quiet for family living.

The bedroom wing was designed to provide privacy.

Additional features include double staff quarters that can also function as a two-bedroom flatlet, a generator, shutters on all windows and a borehole supplying water to the landscaped, low-maintenance garden.

The sale comes as O’Sullivan remains a central and contentious figure in South Africa’s legal and political landscape.

The Irish-born South African forensic investigator and private security consultant has for years been an outspoken critic of alleged corruption within the South African Police Service and the criminal justice system, drawing both support and fierce opposition.

O’Sullivan is currently in London and has not returned to South Africa, citing security threats.

The forensic investigator’s absence has become a point of contention in Parliament, where an Ad Hoc Committee probing alleged corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system has rejected his suggestion of a virtual appearance.

O’Sullivan is also involved in multiple legal disputes, including defamation actions and counterclaims involving senior police officials and now an allegation that he wrote The President’s Keepers, and not the author, investigative journalist Jacques Pauw.
