Vivo Energy Botswana and Pick n Pay have partnered to launch a new era of convenience retail with the country’s first Pick n Pay Go store, offering customers quality products and services from two leading names in fuel and retail.

The stores offered a broad selection of freshly baked goods, coffee, snacks, drinks, and daily essentials alongside fuel and lubricant services.

The first location opened at the Shell Village service station, with additional sites planned for rollout in the coming months.

The partnership formed part of Vivo Energy Botswana’s broader strategy to enhance customer experience by expanding the one-stop-shop model across its Shell service stations.

Over the past year, the company had deepened this approach through collaborations with quick service restaurant and retail partners.

Two months earlier, Pick n Pay had transitioned its 13 franchise stores in Botswana to corporate ownership, reinforcing its commitment to delivering an improved shopping experience.

The move aimed to upgrade stores, improve service, and expand the selection of fresh and quality products available to customers.

Pick n Pay Botswana Managing Director, Leon de Lange, said the collaboration reflected the alignment of both companies’ visions for the future of convenience retail.

“Pick n Pay Go was about making shopping quicker and simpler for customers,” he said.

“This partnership allowed us to extend that convenience to more people and offer everyday essentials in easily accessible locations. It reflected Pick n Pay’s confidence in Botswana’s economic stability, sound governance and long-term growth prospects and underscored our commitment to growing the company’s investment and operational footprint across Southern Africa.”

De Lange added that Pick n Pay’s direct presence in Botswana strengthened its ability to deliver value and choice to customers while driving innovation and operational excellence in a growing retail market.

Vivo Energy Botswana Managing Director, Sesupo Wagamang, said the partnership demonstrated both companies’ understanding of evolving consumer needs.

“Customers value speed, accessibility, and quality. Today’s motorists want more than fuel – they want a convenient space that serves their daily needs,” he said.

He added that each new partnership brought wider benefits to local communities. “Every new retail partnership we established created employment opportunities and stimulated activity within the local economy.

We were proud to be part of a value chain that supported communities and strengthened Botswana’s retail landscape,” Wagamang said.

The forecourt partnership between Vivo Energy Botswana and Pick n Pay marked a new chapter for Botswana’s retail sector, setting a benchmark for smarter, faster, and more convenient shopping experiences. As both companies continued to expand their collaboration, the initiative positioned them at the forefront of redefining modern convenience retail across the region.
